DCJS Notice:
The only DCJS‑approved armed security courses in New York State are the 47‑Hour Firearms / Use of Force Course and the 8‑Hour Armed Annual In‑Service.
All other armed‑related classes are skills, familiarization, or marksmanship sessions only. They are not certification courses and do not qualify you to become an armed guard.
If your goal is to obtain an Armed Guard Registration, you must complete the required NYS DCJS‑approved course, not a skills‑building session alone.
