NYS DCJS recognizes only the following as approved armed guard courses:

• 47‑Hour Firearms / Use of Force Course
• 8‑Hour Armed Annual In‑Service

All other armed‑related classes—including Active Shooter Response Training, CQB sessions, or laser‑based skills development—are skills, familiarization, or marksmanship training only.
They are not DCJS certification courses and do not qualify you for armed guard registration.

To obtain an Armed Guard Registration, you must complete the required DCJS‑approved coursework.
