The New York State 18‑Hour Concealed Carry Firearm Safety Training Course is the mandatory certification required for individuals applying for a NYS Concealed Carry Pistol Permit. This comprehensive program combines classroom instruction with live‑fire range training to ensure students develop the knowledge, judgment, and practical skills necessary to responsibly carry a concealed handgun in New York.

The curriculum includes 16 hours of classroom instruction covering firearm safety, safe handling and storage, situational awareness, conflict avoidance, de‑escalation principles, and the development of a defensive mindset.
