To become an unarmed security guard, you must:

1. Take the 8 Hour Pre-assignment with us. (view upcoming classes)
2. At this point, you can skip to #4 and start working as a security guard with a temporary agency issued license by a licensed security guard WGP employer. Alternatively, you can move onto step #3, but either way, the 16 hour must be be completed before or after being hired.  
3. Take the 16 Hour On the Job (OJT) training with us. You must complete this training within 90 days of employment as a security guard. (view upcoming classes)
4. Get fingerprinted by Identogo (use code 1545R1 when booking online). Link to schedule: http://www.identogo.com/
5. Then you must attach a copy of your fingerprint receipt to your Employee Statement and Security Guard Application (application available in our office), all other documents requested on the application, and a money order in the amount specified by NYS to the Division of Licensing Services.
6. We recommend you fill out a credit card authorization form (available in office) so you know that they processed your paperwork if you see a charge from NYS.
7. Before you mail anything to NYS, make a copy of everything.
8. Mail your application packet and require documents (fingerprint receipt, 8 hour and 16 hour certificates...etc) to: New York State Department of State Division of Licensing Services, P.O. Box 22052, Albany, NY 12201-2052
9. It can take up to 4 weeks for them to get back to you with a request for more information or a card in the mail.

11. If your name appears in the database with a recent issue date, you can expect to have your card in another week or two depending on how busy the state is.
